Lovely to have a good cuddle with beautiful Ella again recently 🐶🥰

We spent Ella’s home visit pottering about in the garden, which mainly involved having lots of fuss while her mum and dad were out for the afternoon 😊

Last week I had lots of fun with the canine crew and finished up with a weekend celebrating my birthday, including a trip to Emley Show! Last week I had lots of fun with the canine crew and finished up with a weekend celebrating my birthday, including a trip to Emley Show! I’ve also been working behind the scenes planning some new services I’ll soon be adding, offering more flexibility for clients old and new. Keep your eyes peeled…

Thank you so much to everyone who's shown me love and support over the past few days, it really has meant a lot through such a painful time. I'm looking back through old photos today and it's reminded me of so many happy times together. Here are a few of my favourites that show just what a special dog she was.

From picking her up at 8 weeks from Dogs Trust, Nanook was a force of nature, quickly establishing herself as queen of the house. She was a wonderful canicross companion, running regularly with me and travelling all over the UK to attend events, but more than that she was my best friend. She also loved to share her singing with the world, especially when she went to House of Hound Hydrotherapy - initially for fitness and conditioning, then later as rehab for arthritis.

She was a resilient dog too, incredibly surviving through a GDV (bloat) and two bouts of cancer in more recent years, while dealing with other medical conditions that needed ongoing treatment. Sadly, after over 2 years in remission (a rarity), her lymphoma returned with a vengeance and complications arose that meant she declined very quickly over the past couple of weeks.

I'd like to specifically thank Alex and the team at My Caring Vet who took excellent care of us both in our last day together, as well as Giulia, Neil and all the team Cancer Care for Pets who gave us so more time than we ever really expected after her initial diagnosis.

And finally, not forgetting Auntie Julie aka Julie Young who has been like a second dog mum to Nanook in recent times.

Goodnight my girl, I miss you more than words can say, I hope we'll meet again someday x

⭐️ BLUEBELL ⭐️ I’ve had the absolute pleasure of looking after Bluebell’s feline sisters during family holidays but this weekend it was Bluebell’s turn! We had a fabulous afternoon of walkies and cuddles, including meeting some lovely other dogs with their humans while we were out and about! Bluebell is a lovely girl and it’s been a privilege to care for her 🥰

It’s another week of high temps, but that’s only part of the picture - humidity is also a big factor and it’s going to be high for the rest of this week, getting up to 91% this Friday. Dogs can’t sweat in the same way humans do, so rely on panting as a major way of regulating their body temperature. The more humid the air, the harder it is for their breath to evaporate and draw heat from their body. That’s why I’m always checking the Metoffice forecasts and risk assessing every dog for whether walks are safe - keeping them healthy and happy is the top priority here at Actidog 🐶

I’m back! I don’t often take holidays, especially since going full time in my pet care business, so this break in Sicily has been a rare opportunity to relax and refresh.
